Cast-iron, an asset for the environment
Cast-iron can be totally and indefinitely recycled, while still delivering consistent performance.
Material benefits
Ductile cast iron is an alloy of iron, carbon and silicon. Cast iron can be - and is - totally recycled i.e., without any limitation or decline in properties. It is used as a raw material in traditional metallurgical fusion processes (blast and cupola furnaces, etc.) and worked in the Saint-Gobain Pipelines manufacturing plants.
Product benefits
Pipework systems in ductile cast iron are used for drinking water supply and wastewater drainage.
Cast iron's intrinsic qualities and the reliability of its networks (no leaks, permeation or seepage) allow high-quality water to be distributed and wastewater to be drained perfectly safely, thereby contributing to preserving water resources and respecting the environment.
