Electrochrome glass
Electrochrome glass is one of the best examples of these “glasses of the future”. In just a few seconds, it becomes either completely transparent or darkens in order to protect from the sun or to give a more subdued light.
This convex glass is used for all automotive glazing except the windscreen; in particular, it is used in the sun-roofs of the prestigious Superamerica and Scaglietti models by Ferrari. This solution is also now developed for large surfaces for housing applications as a replacement for conventional blinds. The advantage is that the level of light, and therefore heat, permeating the glass can be controlled at will, leading to substantial savings in air-conditioning costs.
