Saint-Gobain joins the Global Compact

Saint-Gobain wanted to assert itself as a member of a worldwide community of entrepreneurs committed to defending Human Rights, labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption. A position perfectly in line with the Group’s Principles of Conduct and Action.

Launched in July 2000 on the basis of an idea put forward by Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General, the Global Compact is an international initiative bringing together several hundred companies, NGO’s and other civil bodies (unions, UN agencies, etc.). Members are dedicated to defending ten universal principles covering Human Rights, labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption. Based on this international network, their joint purpose is to work towards developing a human and sustainable economy.

By joining the Global Compact in July 2003, Saint-Gobain made the commitment to regularly publish the advances it makes in these fields (available on the Global Compact website).
