N°1 worldwide

A specialist in reinforcement materials, the Reinforcement Activity has been gradually organized into divisions based on two fundamental business sectors:
- Saint-Gobain Vetrotex for spinning, which represents 78% of the sales
- and Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics for transformation, for the remaining 22%.
The Reinforcement Activity employs over 8000 persons in nearly 20 countries.

Under the terms of an agreement reached in July 2007, Saint-Gobain sold its Reinforcement and Composites activities to the Owens Corning Group (Saint Gobain Vetrotex), with the exception of its American fibre reinforcements activities, which will be sold separately. The turnover of the activities sold to Owens Corning represented 715 million euros in 2006.

Saint-Gobain Vetrotex produced and handled the marketing of glass strands for the reinforcement of composite materials.

The Solutions Textiles activities, Saint Gobain Technical Fabrics, essentially involved in construction markets, remains at the heart of Saint-Gobain's High Performance Materials Division.
