SAINT-GOBAIN’S INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS USED IN BUILDING THE ALLIANZ ARENA STADIUM IN MUNICH

The Allianz Arena in Munich will be hosting the Football World Cup from 9th June 2006. Designed by the Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, it measures 258m x 227m and is 50m high. It can hold up to 66,000 spectators. Saint-Gobain supplied the stadium with 50,000m2 of Ultimate glasswool manufactured by Isover G+H.

Saint-Gobain also provided 15km of PAM GLOBAL S cast iron pipes made by Saint-Gobain PAM to dispose of sewage and wastewater. This system is used in all the 2006 World Cup stadiums: Berlin, Cologne, Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig, Hanover, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Kaiserslautern and Dortmund.

ULTIMATE: glasswool: is a new generation of glasswool, which is light, compressible, and resistant to high temperatures. It provides optimum thermal and acoustic insulation, sound absorption and most importantly fire protection.

PAM GLOBAL S: range: is a complete sewage and rainwater drainage system for buildings using cast iron pipes, connectors and accessories. Made from non combustible materials, it also provides acoustic insulation.
