The international expansion of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution continues apace with the acquisition of JP Corry in Northern Ireland, Barugel Azulay of Argentina and Vera-Meseguer of Spain, June 12, 2006

Saint-Gobain’s Building Distribution Sector has announced the acquisition of JP Corry (Northern Ireland) and Barugel Azulay (Argentina) Vera-Meseguer (Spain).

- JP Corry is the leading builder’s merchant in Northern Ireland. It also operates in Eire and, to a lesser extent, in England. JP Corry has 22 branches and 548 employees. Its turnover in 2005-2006 (fiscal year ending March) was £97.4 million (€142.8 million).

Through this acquisition, Saint-Gobain Building Distribution bolsters its position in Northern Ireland and establishes a growth base in Eire. The completion of the JP Corry acquisition is subject to authorization from the competent competition authorities.

- With consolidated turnover of $A118.4 million (€32 million) in 2005, Barugel Azulay is the top-ranking distributor of sanitary ware, tiles and kitchens in the State of Buenos Aires in Argentina. It has a network of 12 stores, and employs around 280 people.

With this latest acquisition, Saint-Gobain Building Distribution has consolidated its growth base on the South American continent, building on its already-established presence in Brazil.

- Vera Meseguer is a leading builder’s merchant in the region of Murcia in Spain. It has 3 branches and 143 employees with a turnover of €42M in 2005. Saint-Gobain Building Distribution strengthens its network in a very dynamic Spanish region, which is a new base for this Sector.

Saint-Gobain’s Building Distribution Sector recorded a turnover of €15.4 billion in 2005. It employs 62,000 people working in a network of 3,600 sales outlets spread over more than 20 countries. In addition to being Europe’s leading building materials’ distributor, the Sector holds the world number one slot in tile distribution. Its main brands are Point.P, Jewson, Raab Karcher, Dahl, Lapeyre la Maison and the Platform chain.
