CREATION OF THE "INSULATE THE EARTH AGAINST CO²" ASSOCIATION (FRANCE)

Eight major building sector companies have formed the "Insulate the Earth Against CO²" association. Four are Saint-Gobain companies: Saint-Gobain Isover, Ecophon and Eurocoustic (Insulation), and Saint-Gobain Glass (Flat Glass).

The association's aim is to put forward an action plan that will contribute to France meeting its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent before 2050.

In France, 30 million poorly heated and poorly insulated buildings release 95 million metric tons of the main greenhouse gas CO² into the air each year. According to the association, without this action plan, by 2015, building heating will have increased CO² emissions by 25 million metric tons, representing a real threat to the quality of life of future generations.
