To manufacture its new bottle with a prunt, Saint-Gobain Emballage has revived a glassmaking process that originally appeared in 1600: the prunt.

This technical achievement takes place after the bottle has been manufactured. Once molded and extracted from the forming machine, the bottle is transferred to a second very specific machine: “the prunt table”.

A drop of glass weighting less than 10g then falls delicately onto the bottle shoulder. Like a wax seal, the drop is then pressed in a single pass by a stamp called an “imprinter”, to form the seal.

To ensure that the prunt adheres without deforming the bottle, very precise attention to the temperature of each component is required. The entire manufacturing process takes place in the Vauxrot (Aisne, France) plant.
