BrandSustainable The BD Sector has signed a European distribution agreement with Kebony, an innovative Norwegian timber producer, to offer a sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood. Kebony is sustainable, durable and requires no maintenance beyond normal cleaning. Kebony’s performance has been proven in a variety of applications including decking and cladding. Developed in Norway, the Kebony® technology is an environmentally friendly, patented process, which enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid. The process permanently modifies the wood cell walls giving Kebony premium hardwood characteristics and a rich brown color. After exposure to sun and rain the wood develops a natural silver-gray patina. Kebony is available in clear and character grade. Recognized as Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum and listed as a Global Cleantech 100 company, Kebony was identified by NOVA (Saint-Gobain’s external venturing group) and entered Optimera network in the Nordics. As a responsible market leader in Europe, the BD Sector has decided to welcome Kebony at large, via a European agreement. By this way, the BD Sector opens its full European network to Kebony, giving the opportunity to expand its business at larger scale. The agreement also demonstrates the Saint-Gobain commitment to offer customers sustainable products and solutions while catching new innovative technology and growing market trends.
