Designing a healthy school environment for young children

What if the school of the future wasn't necessarily filled with tablets and virtual reality headsets? What if this school took care of its young students by offering adequate acoustics, omnipresent light, optimal air quality, and thermal comfort? Dive into a school where teaching is a pleasure.

9 km west of Breda, in Etten-Leur in the Netherlands, a new kind of school was born. Teams realized the amount of time they spent indoors on a daily basis… and decided they might as well make their stays as pleasant as possible. This is especially true when we talk about the younger generation. This is why the village school for 3 to 12 years old children has been designed to promote their well-being.

Recognizing that thermal and visual comfort, as well as good air quality are essential to children's physical well-being, social relationships and cognitive development, the school decided to take the lead.

Thanks to Saint-Gobain construction solutions, the Dutch school has become a model example: anti-noise technology, special glass, wall coverings... everything has been designed to ensure that not only the students, but also the teaching staff, live in a healthy and environment-friendly educational space.
