Saint-Gobain on board Qatar’s first metro

It’s a revolution for the State of Qatar and its 2.6 million inhabitants:  the country’s first metro line has just been inaugurated.

Through its wide range of innovative solutions, Saint-Gobain is strongly present in this major project. Among the materials installed: 115,000m² of Kimmco-Isover glass wool to insulate the stations and air-conditioning systems; 26,000m² of Gyproc plasterboards as drywall, shaft wall and ceiling systems; 14,000 tons of Weber mortars for flooring, tile fixing and plastering; 6.5 million liters of Weber admixtures to protect the concrete structure; 40,000m² of Saint-Gobain extra-clear SGG DIAMANT glass; 4,000m² of Saint-Gobain anti-reflective glass SGG VISION-LITE II and 500m² of Vetrotech fire-resistant safety glass. 250 tons of PAM pipes were also laid for the stations’ drinking water and wastewater.

The 98km-long “Red Line” links the Lusail area with Doha’s city center and the International Airport and connects to different stadiums that will host some of the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches.
