Saint-Gobain on the starting grid in Canada

Makeover for Canada’s Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit. Saint-Gobain high-performance glass was chosen for this new building’s façade. Excitement guaranteed!

A few kilometers from downtown Montreal, the Gilles Villeneuve Formula 1 circuit has had a makeover. The former temporary facilities have been replaced with a new, permanent, ultra-modern building. A lot of wood and steel, but also glass has been used for this renovation.

Saint-Gobain supplied nearly 4,000 m² of COOL-LITE XTREME glazing for the building’s façade. This solar-control glass provides excellent thermal insulation while allowing maximum natural light gain thanks to its high degree of transparency. Thermal and visual comfort were key aspects of this project, both for the drivers and their teams, and the spectators. Built over three floors, the new building can accommodate 5,000 people, three times more than the old building.
