What is a RSS feed ?

A RSS feed (Really Simple Syndociation and Rich Site Summary) is a text file in which, the content is produced automatically in relation to the website updates. This tool allows to get website news for free without going to it. Therefore, the user is automatically alerted when new articles are published, either through the web browser or RSS reader. 

How does it work ?

To read an RSS feed, several options are possible :  

Web browsers

  • On Google Chrome, to clearly see the feed, it is recommended to install an extension such as RSS Feed Reader or The RSS Aggregator. Then, simply copy/paste the URL address of the RSS feed into the reader to subscribe.
  • On Mozilla Firefox, reading a RSS feed is automatically handled. One need to go to the URL adress of the feed and subscribe by using the bookmark. For a better experience, an extension can be installed : Simple RSS Reader
  • On Internet Explorer, reading a RSS feed is automatically handled. It is possible to subscribe by loading to the URL address of the feed and adding it to the bookmark bar.

 

RSS readers

RSS readers allow to centralize in one place, news of several websites. To subscribe to a RSS feed with these readers, we can directly use the search interface provided, or simply copy/paste the URL address of the feed which interests you into the reader. By clicking on the "RSS Feed" in the footer, you can get the RSS feed. To do it, you will need to add it to your bookmark bar, or use any kind of readers.
