Promoting building trades
By taking part in WorldSkills, the international competition for craft trades, Saint-Gobain companies and brands are supporting the young craftsmen of the future. A look back at an international event.
Once again, Saint-Gobain was present at the 2024 edition of the international craft trades competition, WorldSkills. More than 1,500 participants from 70 countries competed in 59 different trades to win the title of world champion in their profession.
As a committed partner of the event, Saint-Gobain Distribution Bâtiment France took advantage of this new edition to strengthen its commitment to the craftsmen of the future by highlighting the Schools for Sustainable construction. These programs train new generations of craftsmen in the challenges of sustainable construction in the roofing, masonry, HVAC engineering and plastering trades.
POINT.P, committed to the safety of craftsmen on building sites, took the opportunity to raise visitors’ awareness of the importance of wearing PPE – personal protective equipment – through an informative and participative stand passing on high-impact messages about safety on building sites.
The distribution brand also played a major role in this global event by supporting the 14 construction trades in competition (including masonry and tiling) and by providing over 700 solutions to ensure the smooth running of the competition. The Placo®, Isover, and Weber brands were also well represented on the dry construction plastering stand.
And POINT.P also provided big bags in each area, so that competitors could sort their waste. The aim was to raise awareness of good site practice for these future craftsmen, right from the start of their careers.
