projet Downtown One à Tirana

The highest skyscraper in Tirana (Albania) will be built in 2024. Called Downtown One, this project’s design has been entrusted to the architectural firm MVRDV. This spectacular building is well on its way to receiving LEED Platinum certification, thanks to the Saint-Gobain solutions that will be used to create the façades, floors, interior partitions and ceilings, combining the know-how of Rigips, ISOVER, Weber, ADFORS and Saint-Gobain Glass.

The 37-storey façade, created with cantilevered elements, is a "pixelated" map of Albania, with each part representing a town or village, and offering a magnificent panoramic view of the city and the mountains. The terraces thus created allow the occupants to chat from window to window, in a vertical version of the country. Th projecting windows of this architectural feat required 11,700 m2 of CLIMAPLUS COOL-LITE® SKN 176 double-glazing with high solar protection performance. To create the lightweight façade, plasterboard reinforced with GLASROC®-X glass mat was combined with GLASROC®-X SKIM render, which was specifically produced locally to create a complete solution including boards, screws, glass mat and render. This solution was applied across 15,000 m2 of façades and helped to improve comfort by providing superior moisture, fire and UV resistance while remaining lightweight.

More than just a skyscraper, Downtown One is about to become the symbol of Tirana.
