Smart protective glazing in Switzerland
SageGlass and Vetrotech have pooled their expertise in solar and fire protection to meet the requirements of a new building in Geneva’s business district.
Alto Pont-Rouge is a new kind of building, combining workspaces, retail space, restaurants, housing, and public infrastructure. Located in the heart of the business district in Geneva (Switzerland), this 15-floor building with three car park levels offers 28,000 m2 of office space. As visual comfort was one of the priorities of the project architects brodbeck-roulet, the owners called on the dual expertise of SageGlass and Vetrotech.
Alto Pont-Rouge has thus been equipped with SageGlass Harmony© smart double glazing combined with a CONTRAFLAM coating over a surface area of 7,500 m2. SageGlass glazing is tinted and cleared using a smart control system, optimizing natural light while protecting occupants from glare and heat. At the same time, CONTRAFLAM fireproof safety glass was installed to meet fire protection requirements.
Together they provide a highly effective system in terms of protection, while also ensuring a high level of energy and environmental performance. This innovative cooperation is the result of two years’ work, from the initial needs analysis to completion of the project, including a period of internal and external trials. It has passed tests at the Institut Technique de la Fenêtre, Rosenheim, an international benchmark for window technology, and has been certified by TÜV Rheinland Nederland BV.
