pre.formance renovates 100 apartments in Düsseldorf
By autumn 2025, 19 apartment blocks with almost 100 units will be renovated in Düsseldorf, Germany. Serial renovation with pre.formance is fast and causes minimal disruption, allowing residents to remain in their apartments during the work.
In mid-September 2024, the first measurements were taken. After around three months of construction work, the first six apartment blocks were nearing completion. A total of 19 buildings in Düsseldorf (Germany) will be renovated using Saint-Gobain’s pre.formance construction system.
Digital planning, off-site construction of large flat components, efficient site logistics and well-honed commercial planning and coordination, all combine to provide consistently high speed and quality. After an intensive pre-planning phase, lasting just eight months for 19 apartment buildings, the components could be assembled on site. This is where serial renovation comes into its own. Energy-efficient, this type of renovation can be performed much more quickly by adopting a serial approach, with reduced construction lead times and significant economies of scale. Many of the processes are repetitive, from planning to manufacture and assembly. The serial approach makes much more efficient use of resources. Existing buildings are brought up to new building standards within a few weeks, giving them a climate-neutral future.
Here, each house was scanned inside and out during the planning phase and has received a bespoke make-over based on the 3D model of the building. By mid-October 2024, Brüggemann Holzbau had installed the first façade components. At a length of up to 10 meters, they are manufactured in the new modular construction hall in Neuenkirchen. Each truck brings a complete floor to the building site, and after just two days of assembly, an old apartment building shines in its new-found glory. The overall speed of the project remains unbeatable compared with conventional renovation.
