Gyproc India, pioneer in certified low-carbon plaster

Saint-Gobain Gyproc India has become the first Indian manufacturer to launch a low-carbon plaster certified by an EPD. This innovation places India at the heart of the Group’s ecological transition.

This initiative is fully in line with Saint-Gobain’s global strategy for a more environmentally friendly industry. The Chennai plant thus becomes the first in the Group to produce low-carbon plaster using optimized manufacturing processes powered by renewable energies. This achievement demonstrates how local expertise can serve global innovation.

This certification applies to three products: Elite 100, Elite MR and Xpert+. These solutions combine technical performance with environmental responsibility, making it easier for construction companies to integrate these materials into LEED or BREEAM-certified projects, while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.

At the end of May, the first bags of Gyproc low-carbon plaster, bearing the EPD and Low Carbon logos, left the Chennai plant to enter the network of distribution partners. An achievement marking the start of a new era in Indian construction.
