Saint-Gobain and Morocco’s high-speed rail
Saint-Gobain materials were chosen for the Kenitra high-speed railway station in Morocco. Stepping into a higher gear on the African continent.
Inspired by traditional Moroccan architecture, the new high-speed train station in Kenitra will handle the first high-speed railway line on the African continent with services to Tangiers, Rabat and Casablanca.
Saint-Gobain produced and delivered 6,000m² of COOL-LITE KNT 140 and COOL-LITE KN 166 II for the building’s façade. These products provide both excellent thermal insulation and high light gain. 10,000 m² of Placo® (standard, hydro and Rigitone) and approximately 100 tons of sprayed plaster were also supplied for this project. The railway station won the 2019 Versailles Prize international architecture award in the “Stations” category for the most beautiful exterior.
